Versatile, Hard Working, People Loving
Norwegian Fjords

Fjords were in our destiny before we even knew very much about the breed.   Katherine has had horses since she was 8 years old.  Her first being a grade pony named 'Sunshine"  Sunshine was a brown dun with a flaxen mane- yes very close to looking like a red fjord  and possibly Welsh cross but was only 12.1 hands high and we didn't have any history on her.  She was bombproof and I could do anything on her-  arena work,  western games and she was awesome at trail- climbing, swimming, open fields, jumping small logs- anything I wanted.   I most rode her trail. We also raced the train every afternoon when it was coming on the peninsula.  I have many fond memories of Sunshine.

Then I bred her Arabian and then got Arabians (including a black Crabbet/Polish bred mare!) which I bred and got a gelding from.   My husband married into the horses.  Besides Arabians we also had a Paint breeding stock mare that we bred a couple times.   Then horses took the back burner while I bred and showed dairy goats.

Fast forward to 2009 and Fjords were the topic of interest between Jerry and I as they became affordable after the economic crash of 2008.   Jerry's father immigrated from Norway in 1905 and I have inherited Norwegian from my father's side of the family.  So,  we introduce our Fjords...    Click on Fjords on the tab at the top of this page and watch the drop down menu- you can see our Mare Herd,  our Sales page and our Previously Loved Fjord page.

Opal M.     dob 04/25/2004  KFPS / FHANA registered 840004200404482  Inbreeding Coefficient 4.3%
Sire  Anne 340 x dam Anika M.

Breeding plans in the research phase for a 2021 breeding to produce a 2022 foal.  Looking into AI possiblities with a KFPS approved stud.  Filly will be retained, colt will be for sale.     will plan to start saddle work with her this winter as she has not been ridden since about 2015.  Her Temperment is BEYOND AMAZING and I"ve bridled and saddled her without any issue or hint of issue at all.
Opal Is Registered KFPS/FHANA with full papers.  Opal has had 2 lovely foals, the latest turning 2 in June 2021, and a colt 'Opie' a few years ago (she was live covered), Pearl (filly) in June 2019 (A.I.). Had good pregnancies and birthed on her own. She is a wonderful Mom to her babies (had to take the last one off her at 10 months, or she'd probably still be nursing). Regular cycles. Opal is a pretty mover (smooth for purebred Friesian). Could make a darling dressage horse, driving horse, trail horse (or?) with someone that might be interested. She doesn't require medications, and has never had any founder or colic issues. She gets along well with other horses, and is also fine by herself. After Opal was started under saddle she had been ridden by confident intermediate teens, along with my advanced beginner Husband (with help, rode in the arena and on trails).
